Jerusalem Artichoke Tubers, Sunchokes (Stampede Variety)
(Helianthus tuberosus)
A wonderful perennial vegetable. Another common name for Jerusalem Artichokes is Sunroots. This variety is Stampede and they grow anywhere from 8-12 feet tall depending on location. They flower in September and are a wonderful late food for pollinators. I recommend keeping them out of your veg garden because once you plant them they’re there long term. I planted into some clay soil 8 years ago to create a living fence by our deck and they’ve done wonders at breaking up the soil and now it’s loaded with worm castings. Jerusalem Artichokes are native to North America.
Hardy to zone 3.
