Wild American plums are a hardy, amazing fruit. We like to purée them with maple syrup for fruit leather. Also can be blended with apple for fruit leather. We make an American Plum spread by removing the skins once they’re very ripe, blend the pulp with maple syrup and hot water bath can, or freeze the purée in jam jars. The flowers are beautiful, smell amazing, and a great nectar source for pollinators. The smell of ripe American plums is absolutley amazing as well. These will sucker, so best planted as a hedgerow or thicket along the edge of your property. American plums need a pollinator, so we recommend planting at least two. Seedlings grown from select wild trees with larger than average fruit.
