Swamp milkweed, also called rose milkweed, is one of the beautiful (non edible) milkweed species of the central and eastern US. Often found growing in wetland areas, but can do just fine in soils with medium moisture. Swamp milkweed has showy pink flowers and is another host for the monarch butterfly. Seeds require cold, moist stratification. Fall sowing the seed is the easiest way to get milkweed seed to germinate.
